My experience involves working with the boards of directors of not-for-profit associations to provide high-quality events and includes the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support including database and website updates; attending meetings of the board of directors and providing Minutes of the meetings; responding to mail and email queries from the membership; liaising with association headquarters.

  • Organize, prioritize and manage several tasks at one time; delegate tasks as required and be flexible and adaptable to change.

  • Assist in negotiations with speaker bureaus for speakers or panellists and have a good understanding of budgeting.

  • Work with clients to communicate the parameters of an event effectively to ensure that good deals are negotiated with vendors.

My clients include large, medium-sized, and smaller not-for-profit associations for whom I provide services as required and as requested by the board.

Experience during my professional career has been gained through law firms and banking, both retail and corporate.  In the mid-1980s, my husband and I opened a business centre in downtown Toronto, providing office space to small business owners together with telephone answering and mailing address services with a Bay Street address.  Several people who rented space were directors of not-for-profit associations and asked me to become involved in providing events and administrative services for a few associations.  I have been involved with several associations for 20+ years and this forms the basis for my current business.
